Bing's Academy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains what personal information Bing's Academy collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We collect only what we need to respond to your enquiry and run our tutoring programs.

Who we are

Bing's Academy is an independent online tutoring service based in New South Wales, Australia. We offer 1-on-1 tutoring for students preparing for OC, Selective and HAST exams, as well as ongoing English and Maths tutoring for Years 3 to 10.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the NSW Department of Education, NESA, ACER, or any other government or educational body. All content on this site is based on our own experience working with students and families preparing for these exams. Nothing on this site constitutes official advice from any examining body.

What we collect

When you submit an enquiry through our contact form, we collect:

We also collect basic usage data through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. This includes pages visited, time on site, and general device and browser information. Neither tool collects personally identifiable information on its own.

Our test platform

Students on our programs sit practice and assessment papers on our own online test platform. When your child sits a paper, we record:

Assessment papers also run in Honest Exam Mode, which records when the test window is left, and attempts to copy, paste or take a screenshot during a sitting. This is to keep a sitting fair to every student who sat it. It is a count of events, not a recording of your child's screen, and we do not use webcams, microphones or keystroke logging at any point.

We do not run Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity or any other tracking tool on the test platform, and we collect nothing from your child's device beyond what is needed to run the test in their browser.

What your child sees, and what we see

After a practice paper, your child sees their score and can review the questions and answers. After an assessment, what they see is up to their tutor and is usually kept for the feedback conversation.

The timing, flags and Honest Exam Mode figures are read by their tutor, not shown to your child. They are there to answer questions a score cannot: whether a paper was rushed at the end, whether a question was hard or simply slow, whether time ran out. We use them to teach, never to penalise a child.

How your child signs in

There are no student accounts and no student passwords. Access is by a private link we send you, unique to your child. Anyone holding that link can open it, so please treat it like a password and tell us if it is forwarded or you think it has gone astray — we can cancel a link and issue a new one at any time.

Why we collect it

We use your contact details to respond to your enquiry, understand your child's situation, and match them with the right tutor. We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.

Test platform records are used to mark your child's work, to write the reports you receive, and to plan their lessons. We do not use them for anything else.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your enquiry details are only seen by the Bing's Academy team and the tutor assigned to your child.

We do not share test results or test platform records with schools, the NSW Department of Education, NESA, ACER, or any other organisation. They are seen by your child's tutor and by Bing's Academy staff working on their program, and by nobody else.

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:

How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry details for as long as you are an active student or potential student. If you have not enrolled and ask us to remove your information, we will do so within 14 days.

We keep test results and the reports built from them for as long as your child is with us, and for two years afterwards, so we can answer questions about their progress. You can ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

Because our students are children, these rights sit with you as their parent or guardian. You can ask to see everything we hold on your child, including their test results and the records described above, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong.

To make any of these requests, use the contact form on our website. We will respond within 14 days.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies set by Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for usage tracking. These are analytics cookies only. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
