A public school that runs online selective classes for students in rural and remote NSW. Students stay enrolled at their local ‘host’ public high school and join Aurora’s online classes in English, maths and science in Years 7 to 10. Here’s how to get in, how its students do in the HSC (the exams at the end of Year 12), and what the school is like.
Bing’s Academy is independent of the school. Every figure here is from a public source, named under each section.

To join, your child must live in a rural or remote area and be enrolled, or planning to enrol, at one of about 180 host public high schools. Places in Years 8 to 10 depend on vacancies.
What the school says: “Students who did not qualify and/or did not apply for entry in Year 7 have the opportunity to apply for the selective stream in Years 8, 9 and 10, providing there are vacancies available.” The school’s website, read 28 October 2026
Year 7 places go through the Department’s Selective test. Places in Years 8 to 10 go through Aurora directly when a place is free, says its enrolment page (its 2027 information sheets differ: ask the school).
Year 7 dates are the Department’s official dates. Aurora hasn’t published dates for Years 8 to 10.

Aurora’s selective classes run in Years 7 to 10. In Years 11 and 12 the school is not selective, as its annual report says, so its HSC results aren’t the results of its selective students. We don’t show them here.

No. Aurora’s enrolment page says applications for Years 8 to 10 go to the school, and some students are invited to an online assessment test. Its 2027 information sheets say the Department’s selective process: ask the school.

Yes, their local host public high school. Aurora’s classes are online, with two residential camps a year.
The Department doesn’t publish one. It changes every year, depending on who applies.
Of the 22 students we taught who sat the Selective test in 2026, 17 received an offer of a selective place (not always at this school). We will never promise a place: the Department marks the exam and the cut-offs move every year. What we can promise is that you will know where your child stands, for Year 7 or for joining later.
